Short answer

A student coaching session is a structured conversation. The coach and student review what is happening, clarify a useful focus, explore strengths and obstacles, and agree a small practical experiment before the next session.

The student has a voice

A coach may ask questions, offer frameworks and challenge gently, but coaching is collaborative. Young people are more likely to sustain changes they understand and help design.

Sessions connect reflection with action

A conversation might explore motivation, confidence or pressure, then translate that insight into a concrete plan: a revised study routine, a way to begin a difficult task or a strategy for an upcoming assessment.

Boundaries are explained in advance

Parent communication, confidentiality limits and safeguarding are agreed before coaching begins. Coaching is educational support and personal development, not mental-health treatment.
